Albourne Village Show
Saturday 7th September 1.00 – 4.30pm
This has been described as “reminiscent of childhood village fetes” with a flower show, baking competitions, home made jams and wines, apple pressing, crafts, tombolas, children's games and is becoming one of the most popular village shows of the year with over 400 people attending last year. Pay us a visit and see what you think!
This year we are expecting even more magnificent vintage vehicles to steam into the village - from a giant steam roller to small working engines. Vintage vehicles will also be on display so come and take a close look at them all and talk to their owners.
Our very popular Fun Dog Show will be taking place throughout the afternoon - including classes for all shapes and sizes of dog. Come along with your pooch and regsiter them on the day to take part and see if you can take home one of the many rosettes to be won.
Children are well catered for with the fantastic array of games in the tent dedicated to them. Adults have also been seen trying their hand at fishing for a duck and aiming the hoopla rings at some fantastic prizes!
Come and watch apples being scratted (crushed) in the “shark” and then pressed in our new hydraulic press. You are welcome to bring your own apples to the show and for a small fee they will be turned into juice for you to take home or you can donate any unwanted apples to be pressed and sold to help raise funds for future shows. As well as the apple pressing you will also be able to buy apple products.
Many talented local people offer their crafts for sale in our two craft marquees so why not come along and see if you can grab yourself a “one-off” bargain.
During the afternoon, refreshments will be on sale for everyone - whether it be a cup of tea and some cake, a barbecue burger or sausage, a non-alcoholic drink or a pint of local real ale you will find it on Albourne Village Recreation Ground on Saturday 7th September so come and join in the fun. Everyone is welcome. Put the date in your diary now!
