Students Join The Blooming Great Tea Party For Charity
On Monday 15th July students & staff from LVS Hassocks and local residents came together for the Blooming Great Tea Party in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care and raised £50.
The students who run the cafe as part of their work skills programme sold a range of items made on site, some delicious cakes and flapjacks, some vegetables grown in their garden and homemade cards.
Local residents joined in the fun and enjoyed their tea and cake in the sunshine.
Student Ryan, aged 13, tucked into a large flapjack and said "I like coming to The Oast Cafe because it’s cute and has a welcoming atmosphere".
The Oast Café is a local community facility run by students at LVS Hassocks. The students involved in the Working Skills Group, are a combined team of young people all with autism, Asperger’s or related conditions. They not only serve the customers, but under the supervision of their Tutor, the ‘business team’ plan and manage their business, including controlling the finances and advertising their service. The Oast Café is open Monday & Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday & Thursday mornings during term time.
