Annual Royal Automobiles Club's Veteran Car Run

The Royal Automobile Club's annual Veteran Car Run, is the world's longest running and greatest motoring celebration. The annual November event attracts entrants from all over the globe and for the owners of these highly valuable veteran cars it represents a rare opportunity to take their extraordinary automobiles on the historic 60-mile run from Hyde Park in central London to the seafront on the Sussex resort of Brighton.

Sunday - The Veteran Car Run

Many enthusiasts gather at various locations along the 60 mile route to support the drivers and passengers of these wonderful nostalgic vehicles.

The following are just some of the popular viewing locations:
The START in Hyde Park - Apsley Gate, Hyde Park Corner
Westminster Bridge
Croydon - Old Town bridge
Crawley - Old Town Centre
Along B2115/B2114 via Cuckfield
Along B2036 via Burgess Hill
Along A273 via Clayton Hill
The Formal Finish - Preston Park Brighton
The Ceremonial FINISH - Madeira Drive Brighton

All participating vehicles retain an average 20mph speed along the 60 mile route and will start to arrive at the formal finish in Preston Park Brighton after 3 hours from the first car starting. This is followed by a final section into Madeira Drive, Brighton for a 10:05am first arrival. Cars continue to arrive and remain on display in Madeira Drive until approximately 16:30pm.

Along the B roads between Crawley and Brighton many of the Public Houses on the route host various classic car club gatherings, providing additional interest, throughout the Veteran Car Run day.

The organisers politely seek support from spectators to help keep the route as clear as possible for these temperamental fragile 19th Century motor cars!
