Situated in the rural hamlet of Barcombe, East Sussex in what was once the well known Red Alce Steelworks, The Oak Designs Company continues the tradition of a skilled local business producing albeit not Steel but an extensive range of Oak frame buildings supplied throughout the U.K. and the Continent.

For centuries Oak has been used for its strength and endurance as one of the principal materials in the construction of house frames, shipping and the iron industry. Oak frames were manufactured in the village saw pit and the timbers carried to site by oxen and horses in the days when labour was plentiful and cheap. The huge number of surviving Tudor houses in this country bear witness to the fact that an oak framed structure will last and last.

Today The Oak Designs Company carries on this wonderful tradition of oak frame construction, with over 486 designs in their Acorn Budget garaging range alone and their Outdoor Living Range of stylish outdoor oak buildings, incorporating garden rooms, pool houses, outdoor kitchens and home offices through to their new Sanctuary range, for those who seek a refuge in the garden away from household distractions.
