The Mint House: Encouraging the next generation of book lovers

I’m often asked what makes us special and the simple answer is we’re more than just a book shop! The Mint House has been in the middle of the High Street, Hurstpierpoint for over 50 years and since taking over last year we’ve aimed to make the shop a hub of the community. We host a book club, knitting group, showcase artists’ work in our Gallery and have regular events such as author signings, book swaps and workshops for children and adults.

Of course we are passionate about books and everyone is welcome to browse amongst the shelves; we also stock gifts, cards and educational toys by Djeco and House of Marbles. The shop has seating and an area for children to play in making the buying experience a pleasurable one. We offer a wide selection of contemporary and classical fiction for adults and children from 0 – 100 plus years and have a range of titles for reluctant and dyslexic readers. And if we haven’t got it we’ll move heaven and earth to find it for you! Orders generally arrive within 24-48 hours.

We also love a chat and are always keen to hear about the books our customers are reading!
